Easy Space Craft Idea for Kids

Easy Space Craft Idea for Kids

Space is full of wonders: the Sun, Moon, and all the planets! This craft lets kids make their very own solar system using simple paper templates and popsicle sticks. It’s a fun way to learn about space while creating colorful art. Children will enjoy coloring, cutting, and pasting, and at the end they’ll have a set of planets they can hold, play with, or display in the classroom.

What You Need

  • White sheets or light paper
  • Sun, Moon, and planet templates
  • Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Popsicle sticks

How to Make

  1. Print the Sun, Moon, and planet templates on white sheets.
    • You can also print on colored sheets if you prefer.
  2. Color each template using crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
    • Match the colors to real planets (blue and green for Earth, red for Mars, Blue for Neptune, etc.).
    • You can look at an example image for ideas.
  3. Cut out each planet, the Sun, and the Moon separately.
  4. Take popsicle sticks and write the names on them: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.
  5. Glue each cut‑out to its matching stick.
    • Or, if you prefer, print stick shapes and paste them onto a board for extra strength. Write the names there and paste the planets on them.
  6. Let everything dry.
  7. Now you have your own colorful solar system craft, ready to play, learn, or display!
