Easy Winter Paper Craft for Kids with cottons

Winter is the perfect time for cozy crafts. This easy paper activity lets kids make a fun winter scene using cotton, colors, and simple shapes. It’s playful, creative, and helps children enjoy art while building fine motor skills. Great for classrooms, holiday projects, or just a quiet afternoon at home.

What You Need

  • Printed mitten template (or draw your own)
  • Blue or white A4 paper for background
  • Small colored paper squares
  • Cotton balls
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Markers or crayons

How to Make

Print the winter template — Or draw a winter-themed image on a sheet of paper. It can be mittens, a snowman, sweater, socks, tree, penguin, or anything cozy and fun.

Decorate the mittens (or other winter items) — Cut and paste small colored paper squares inside the image to add bright patterns and texture.

Decorate your image using craft materials

  • Glue cotton balls or pads to make fluffy parts.
  • Add yarn pieces, crayons, paints, or markers to bring your picture to life.

Use cottons for soft winter details

  • Mittens and socks: cuffs
  • Sweaters and winter hats: bottom and top edges
  • Winter trees: snow at the bottom and scattered snowy spots

Use yarn pieces for scarves — Paste them at both ends of the scarf to make it look warm and real.

Use crayons, markers, or paints for tricky areas

  • Snowman: face features, hat, hands, and body
  • Santa: beard, ears, face, and tail
  • Penguin: scarf, hat, and face
  • Coffee mug: steam and handle
  • Tree: trunk and stones

Let it dry and display — Once everything is glued and colored, let your craft dry. Then hang it up, share it, or turn it into a winter card!
