How to Make a Peek-a-Boo Pumpkin Paper Craft

1. Prepare the Background

  • Start with an A4-size craft board or a dark-colored A4 sheet for the background.
  • Brown, black, dark blue, or another darker color works well because it helps the bright orange pumpkin stand out.

2. Print and Color the Pumpkin

  • Print the pumpkin parts template on a white sheet of paper.
  • Color the pumpkin using crayons, markers, or colored pencils. Orange works perfectly for the pumpkin, while green is a great choice for the stem and leaves.
  • You can also use different colors to create your own unique pumpkin.

3. Cut Out the Pumpkin Parts

  • Carefully cut around the outside outlines of the pumpkin.
  • The pumpkin comes in two separate pieces—a top part and a bottom part. Cut both pieces separately and keep them aside.

4. Choose a Peek-a-Boo Character

  • Next, choose the character you want to pop out from the pumpkin.
  • You can choose a: Girl, Boy, Cat, Bat, Ghost
  • Print your chosen character on white paper. Color it using crayons, markers, or colored pencils, and then carefully cut around the outside outline.

5. Arrange the Pieces

  • Take your background sheet, pumpkin pieces, and character cutout.
  • Before using glue, arrange all the pieces to make sure you are happy with their positions.
  • First, place the character in the middle of the background.
  • Next, place the bottom pumpkin piece over the lower part of the character. It should cover only the bottom of the character so it looks like the character is popping out from inside the pumpkin.
  • Use the provided finished craft images as examples to help you arrange the pieces.

6. Add the Top Pumpkin Piece

  • Place the top pumpkin piece above the character, near the top of the page.
  • Position it so it looks like the pumpkin has opened and the character has popped out from the middle.

7. Glue Everything in Place

  • Once you are happy with the arrangement, carefully glue each piece onto the background.
  • Start with the character, then add the bottom pumpkin piece over it, and finally glue the top pumpkin piece in place.
  • Gently press each piece down so it stays flat.

8. Let It Dry and Display

  • Keep the finished craft aside and let the glue dry completely.
  • Once dry, display your peek-a-boo pumpkin craft on a classroom wall, bulletin board, door, refrigerator, or fall and Halloween display.
