Easy Halloween Night Craft Ideas for Kids

Easy Halloween Night Craft Ideas for Kids

Looking for a simple and creative Halloween craft for kids? These Easy Halloween Night Craft Ideas for Kids are a fun way to create a spooky night scene using paper, paint, crayons, and printable Halloween templates.

Kids can start by making a beautiful blue night sky and then decorate it with a bright moon, a spooky tree, flying bats, ghosts, a witch, a haunted house, or a Halloween pumpkin. The best part is that children can choose their favorite pieces and arrange them however they like.

This easy Halloween paper craft is great for preschool, kindergarten, elementary classrooms, homeschool activities, or a fun Halloween art project at home.

What You Need

  • White paper or cardstock
  • Dark blue and light blue paint, pastels, or crayons
  • Paintbrushes, if using paint
  • Printable Halloween templates
  • Yellow or white paper for the moon
  • White paper for printouts
  • Scissors
  • Glue

You don't need to use every Halloween template. Let each child choose their favorite shapes to create a unique Halloween night scene.

How to Make:

1. Create the Night Sky Background

  • Start with a white sheet of paper.
  • Use dark blue and light blue paint, pastels, or crayons to create the night sky.
  • Start in one area of the paper and make circular strokes, slowly working your way across the whole sheet.
  • Mix the light and dark blue shades together as you work.
  • This will turn the plain white paper into a beautiful Halloween night sky.
  • If you are using paint, keep the background aside until it is completely dry.

2. Add the Moon and Spooky Tree

  • Print the moon template on yellow or white paper.
  • You can also print it on white paper and color it yellow with crayons or markers.
  • Next, print the tree silhouette template on white paper. Or, print the tree coloring page and color it.
  • Carefully cut out the moon and tree along their outlines.
  • Glue the moon near the top of the night sky. Then, place the spooky tree along the left side of the page and glue it in place.
  • Now your Halloween night background is ready to decorate!

Moon and Tree Templates:

3. Choose Your Halloween Characters

  • This is where kids can use their imagination.
  • Choose from the printable Halloween templates, such as bats, a ghost, a witch, a haunted house, and a jack-o'-lantern.
  • Print the silhouette shapes on white paper, or print the coloring pages and let children color them.
  • Carefully cut out each shape along the outline.

4. Create Your Halloween Night Scene

  • Before gluing, arrange the Halloween cutouts on the blue background.
  • Kids can make a bat night scene with bats flying across the moon, add a friendly ghost beside the tree, create a spooky haunted house, or place a flying witch in the night sky.
  • There is no need for every picture to look the same. Encourage children to mix and match the templates and create their own Halloween scene.
  • Once you are happy with the arrangement, glue all the pieces neatly in place.

5. Let It Dry and Display

  • Keep the finished craft aside and let it dry completely.
  • Once dry, display your Halloween night craft on a classroom wall, bulletin board, door, or at home for a fun and spooky Halloween decoration.
