How to Make a Fall Pom Pom Painting Craft

1. Choose a Fall Template

  • Start by choosing your favorite design from the provided fall-themed printable templates.
  • You can choose from: Hedgehog, Apple, Pumpkin, Fall leaf, Fall tree, Acorn.
  • Print your selected main template on a white sheet of paper.

2. Print the Extra Template Pieces

  • Some designs include extra pieces, such as leaves, stems, faces, or other small details.
  • Print these pieces on white paper if children would like to color them. Use crayons or markers to add the colors.
  • You can also print the pieces directly on matching colored paper. If you use colored paper, there is no need to color them.

3. Prepare the Pom Poms and Paint

  • Place small amounts of colorful paint in a paint tray or separate containers.
  • Choose a pom pom and hold it securely with a pair of child-safe tweezers or tongs.
  • Using tweezers adds an extra fine motor challenge, but younger children can also hold the pom pom directly with their fingers if needed.

4. Start Pom Pom Painting

  • Dip the pom pom lightly into the paint.
  • Press it gently onto the paper inside the dashed outline of the fall picture to create a colorful paint mark.
  • Lift the pom pom straight up and repeat the process.

5. Fill the Fall Picture

  • Continue dipping and pressing the pom pom until the area inside the dashed outline is filled with colorful paint marks.
  • Try different fall colors to make the picture bright and interesting. For example, use orange, yellow, red, and brown for a fall leaf or tree.

Once finished, keep the picture aside and let the paint dry completely.

6. Color and Cut Out the Extra Pieces

  • While the painting is drying, prepare the extra printable pieces.
  • If they were printed on white paper, color them with crayons or markers.
  • Carefully cut around the outside outline of each piece.

7. Add the Extra Pieces

  • Once the pom pom painting is completely dry, arrange the extra cutouts on the painted picture.
  • For example, add the stem and leaf to a pumpkin or apple, or attach the other matching pieces included with your chosen template.
  • Glue each piece in the correct place and gently press it down.
  • Keep the finished craft aside until the glue is dry.
  • Your fall pom pom painting craft is now complete and ready to display!
