How to Make Fall Animal and Leaf Paper Crafts

1. Print the Animal Templates

  • Choose your favorite animal template and print it on a white sheet of paper.
  • Kids can choose a fox, hedgehog, cat, or any other animal included in the printable set.

2. Print the Fall Leaf Templates

  • Print the leaf templates on white paper if children would like to color their own leaves.
  • For an easier option, print the leaf templates directly onto red, orange, yellow, green, and brown colored paper. This is also a great choice for classroom activities because you can prepare several leaves quickly.

3. Color the Animal and Leaves

  • Use crayons or markers to color the animal.
  • If you printed the leaves on white paper, color them using different fall colors. Children can use one color for each leaf or mix several colors together.

4. Cut Out the Pieces

  • Carefully cut around the outside outline of each animal and leaf.
  • Cut all the leaves separately so you can arrange them freely when making the leaf pile.

5. Make a Fall Leaf Pile

  • Take the paper leaf cutouts and arrange them together to create a colorful pile.
  • Overlap some of the leaves to make the pile look full and natural. Try mixing different colors and turning the leaves in different directions.
  • Once you are happy with the arrangement, glue the leaves together.

6. Add the Animal

  • Choose your colored animal cutout and place it on top of the leaf pile.
  • Arrange it so the animal looks like it is resting or sleeping on the colorful fall leaves.
  • Glue the animal securely onto the leaf pile and gently press it down.

7. Let the Craft Dry

  • Keep the finished craft aside and let the glue dry completely.
  • Your fall animal and leaf paper craft is now ready to display on a classroom wall, bulletin board, window, or at home.
