This Mother’s Day, we want to help children show their love for their mothers. So, with that in mind, we have brought you a wonderful card design. Also, you can create this simple Mother’s Day card with your children. Our blog post provides instructions and free templates for these Mother’s Day crafts. So, try creating these yourself.

These Mother’s Day crafts are very simple and easy to make. Therefore, they are suitable not only for preschoolers, but also for children of any age. They can be easily completed in a short time with simple activities such as gluing, cutting, and coloring. So let’s see how to make this Mother’s Day craft.

Mother’s Day Crafts: Why This Craft Is Perfect for Preschoolers:

This is a Mother’s Day craft specially designed for preschoolers. The reason is that they are still too young to do small activities. So here are just a few simple activities they can do. Also, this craft is very easy to understand with simple steps.

Preschoolers have a very loving bond with their mothers. So these Mother’s Day crafts are designed to give them a chance to express their love for their mothers. This is also a great age to teach them good manners. So, as teachers, it is our responsibility to teach such good things.

Okay, so let’s see what other reasons this craft is suitable for preschoolers.

Build fine motor skills:

Children need to develop fine motor skills during the preschool years. Therefore, through this craft, children will have the opportunity to develop their fine motor skills. Cutting and pasting are two simple examples of this.

Use bright colors and shapes:

Young children are more attracted to what they see outside. That is why bright colors and shapes have been used in this craft. This helps to capture the children’s attention and interest in crafting. This is also a great opportunity to recognize colors and shapes.

Express their love with kind words:

Children should be introduced to kind words and how to express them from a young age. The reason for this is to teach the child to build good social skills. Therefore, through this activity, children are allowed to express their love with kind words. In this way, they naturally acquire good social skills.

Create something they can be proud of:

This is the most valuable thing that children get from crafts. They gain self-esteem at the end of their creation. Children gain self-satisfaction by successfully creating it on their own, giving it to their mother, and appreciating it. This helps build children’s self-confidence.

Mother’s Day Crafts: What’s Included in the Craft:

This Mother’s Day craft includes:

  • A heart template – Here you have a black and white template with 6 heart shapes.
  • A flower template – Here you have a black and white template with 6 flower shapes.
  • A Happy Faces template – Here you have a black and white template with 20 happy faces.
  • A page of loving words and phrases –  Here you have a black and white template with 6 loving words.

What You’ll Need:

Here’s what you need to complete this craft:

  • Printed templates
  • Safety scissors
  • Glue stick or child-friendly glue
  • Crayons or markers (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Complete your Mother’s Day crafts by following the simple steps below.

Step 1: Print the Templates

Print the templates you have separately. It’s easier for you to print them on colored pages. But if you want to color these templates, insert them as black and white pages. Also, you can print this design directly onto cardboard.

Step 2: Glue the heart shapes onto cardstock (Only if you have paper templates):

You can use this step if you want your craft to be more sturdy and durable. To do this, glue the heart templates onto cardstock.

Step 3: Color the shapes (Only if you have black and white templates):

You only need to follow this step if the above template is printed on black and white pages. Otherwise, skip this step. So, use pencils, markers, or colored pencils to color here.

Step 4: Cut the Shapes

Now, cut out the templates you printed separately. For example, cut out the flower shapes, heart shapes, happy faces, and Mother’s Day words separately. This step supports fine motor development and hand-eye coordination.

Step 5: Make the smiling flower:

Now, take one of the flowers you cut out. Then paste the happy face you cut out in the middle of it. Now you will have a smiling flower.

Step 6: Paste the smiling flower on the side of the heart:

Now, take the heart shape that you cut out and glued to a cardboard. Then paste the smiling flower on its side as shown in the image below.

Step 7: Add Loving Words

Now, take one of the love words that you cut out. It is important to cut them into a round shape for children. Cutting around the letters will be difficult for preschoolers. Paste the words cut out in this way beautifully in the center of the heart shape.

If you like, you can write your love words in the middle of the heart instead of cutting and pasting the words. Since preschoolers have difficulty writing, you will have to do it. So, I think it is appropriate to allow pasting.

Otherwise, instead of sticking loving words in the space in the middle of the heart, you could let the children write their names and draw a picture of their mother with stickers.

Loving Phrases You Can Use:

In case you’re wondering what kinds of phrases are included, here are some examples from the printable sheet:

  • I love you, Mom!
  • You are the best!
  • Thank you for everything.
  • You make me happy!
  • You’re my sunshine.
  • Hugs and kisses for Mom
  • Happy Mother’s Day!
  • I’m so glad you’re my mommy!

These words are short, sweet, and meaningful—perfect for little kids to understand and use.
