This craft is great for kids of all ages and is a fun way to spark creativity during summer break. It’s simple, colorful, and uses materials you probably already have at home. So grab your crayons, markers, and colored paper — and let’s start crafting!

✂️ What You’ll Need:

To do this summer craft, you’ll need just a few simple supplies:

  • The free printable templates (10 pages — available below!)
  • Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
  • Colored paper (for the hair strips)
  • Scissors (child-safe)
  • Glue stick or white glue

Optional: You can also add glitter, stickers, or foam shapes to make it even more fun!

How to Do the Craft – Step by Step

Follow these simple steps to complete the craft:

Step 1: Print the Templates

Download and print the template pages you like. There are 10 different designs to choose from — some are boys, some are girls, all with big sunglasses.

Step 2: Color the Shirt and Glasses

Let your child color the shirt, sunglasses, and face however they like. Encourage them to be creative with bright summer colors!

Step 3: Draw a Summer Scene in Sunglasses

Ask your child, “What can you see through your sunglasses?” They can draw:

  • A beach with waves and a sun
  • A picnic in the park
  • A family vacation
  • A summer sunset
  • Buildings or a city view

Let their imagination run wild!

Step 4: Cut Strips of Paper for Hair

Take colored paper (construction paper works best) and cut it into short strips. Each strip should be about 1 inch wide and 4–5 inches long.

Step 5: Curl the Hair

To make the paper curly, wrap each strip around a pencil for a few seconds, then slide it off. You can also fold it in a zigzag for a funky look!

Step 6: Glue the Hair

Glue each strip to the top of the character’s head to make fun and crazy summer hairstyles. Use different colors to make it look playful and cool!
