Step 2: Color the Earth Template

Now let’s color the Earth template that you printed. However, Use only two colors blue and green to color the Earth. Also, color the land in green and the sea in blue. Then, place two dots in pink on either side of the Earth’s mouth as shown in the image below. This will give the Earth a cute look.

Step 3: Color the hearts Template

Later, take the printable sheet with the hearts. If you took a color printout here, color only the hearts with the double lines. Only the double line around the hearts should be colored. Also, You can use any color you like for this.

Now we are done coloring the Earth and hearts. Let’s move on to the next step.

Step 4: Paste them on the cardstock

Glue the colored hearts with the five colored dots and double lines onto a fairly sturdy cardboard. You absolutely must do this. Otherwise, your creation will not be sturdy. It will not last. But place the red heart shape on the paper.

This step is not necessary if you printed the templates directly onto cardboard.

Step 3: Cut Out the Shapes

After gluing the cardboard together, cut out all the colorful shapes separately. Then, Cut out the earth, the 5 double-lined heart shapes, and the red heart shape. Use scissors that are easy for children to handle.

Step 4: Paste the red heart on the earth shape

Paste the red heart shape you cut out in the middle of the earth as shown in the image below.

Step 5: Pierce the earth and attach the pieces of string

Now take the cut earth shape and pierce 5 or 4 small holes at the bottom. Then pierce a small hole at the top as well.

Now tie the string to the holes you drilled. Attach a short piece of string to the hole at the top of the ground and slightly longer pieces of string to the 5 holes at the bottom.

Now that we’re done with the Earth, let’s add hearts with eco-friendly practices.

Step 5: Write eco-friendly habits:

Next, take the double-lined hearts that you colored and cut out. Now you can write eco-friendly habits of your choice inside them. Also, write one eco-friendly habit in each heart. You can use a clear and dark marker for that. Below, I will provide some simple eco-friendly habits. Therefore,  You can choose a few that you like.

  • Turn Off Lights
  • Use Reusable Bags
  • Plant a Tree
  • Carry a Water Bottle
  • Recycle
  • Save  Water
  • Clean Up Litter
  • Avoid Single-Use Items
  • Compost Food Waste
  • Avoid wasting food
  • Pick up trace
  • Use both side of paper

Step 7: Attach the hearts to earth

Once you have finished writing eco-friendly habits on the heart shapes, attach them to the ground. To do this, punch a hole in the top of the heart. Then tie the hearts to the ends of a long string attached to the bottom of the bottom.

Step 8: Hang your finished creation

Now you can display your creation. To do this, hang your creation on the wall or ceiling using the string attached to the top of the earth shape.

Earth Day Crafts for kids: Additional Points

01. Here you have to print a colorful heart. But if that’s too difficult for you, there is another option.

Step 1: you have to do is take a black and white print of the second page.

Step 2: Then you can cut out the middle of a double-lined heart and make it a lined heart.

Step 3: Finally, Color the middle of it red and write “Love the Earth.”

Now you have a colorful heart.

02. You can add as many eco-friendly hearts to this design as you want.

To do so, make as many copies as you need from the second template. Then you can have as many hearts as you want to write your habits on. And also,  you can use as many holes and pieces of string as you want to attach them.

03. Instead of coloring the Earth, you can make a collage out of it.

Then you can tear/crush or cut small pieces of blue and green paper and glue them into the shape of the Earth.

04. Be careful about the materials you use for this activity.

  • The cardstock you use is just a regular paperboard. It is easy to use for tasks like piercing holes and tying threads.
  • Always use mediums like pencils, markers, or colored pencils when coloring. This will allow you to create easily and quickly.
  • The strings you use for this project should be strong and fairly thick. For example, you can use natural twine, cotton yarn, or recycled yarn.
