Autumn is a beautiful season. The trees change colors, and we can see red, orange, yellow, and brown leaves all around. Kids love to collect and play with fall leaves. This season is also perfect for fun and creative crafts. One of the easiest and most colorful projects you can try is a Fall Leaf Suncatcher Craft.

In this post, we will share an easy idea and give you free fall leaf templates. Kids can cut out the shapes, paste tissue paper, and create their very own glowing suncatcher. It is a wonderful way to enjoy autumn and decorate your classroom or home.

Materials You Need

This craft is very simple, and you only need a few things:

  • Fall leaf outline templates (free printable)
  • Colored tissue paper (red, yellow, orange, green, brown)
  • Scissors (for cutting)
  • Glue stick or clear tape
  • String or ribbon (to hang)

Steps to Make a Fall Leaf Suncatcher

  1. Print the Templates
Download and print the fall leaf outlines. You can choose from different leaf shapes like maple, oak, or simple round leaves.
  2. Cut the Leaf Outline
Carefully cut out the leaf shape. Then, cut out the inside part of the leaf, leaving only the outline. This will be your suncatcher frame.
  3. Prepare Tissue Paper
Tear or cut tissue paper into small pieces. Use autumn colors like red, orange, and yellow to make it look real and bright.
  4. Paste the Tissue Paper
Stick the small tissue pieces inside the leaf outline. You can overlap them to mix colors and make a glowing effect.
  5. Hang Your Suncatcher
Once the glue dries, punch a small hole at the top of the leaf. Tie a string or ribbon and hang it on a window. When the sunlight comes in, your leaf will shine beautifully.
