Winter is a magical time full of snowflakes, cozy scarves, warm hats, and snowy animals. In this activity, kids will create their own snow globes featuring winter friends, from cheerful children playing in the snow to cuddly polar bears and reindeer!

This craft helps children learn about winter weather, practice cutting and pasting skills, and use their imagination to decorate a snowy world.

What You Need

  • Snow globe templates (circle + base)
  • Printable winter characters and shapes:
  • White cotton balls (for snow)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Crayons, markers, or colored paper

How to Make

Step 1: Cut Out the Snow Globe Pieces

Print and cut out:

  • The large circle for the globe
  • The base
  • Any winter scene pieces you want to include:
    • Characters
    • Houses
    • Trees
    • Snow pieces

Encourage children to choose their favorites!

Step 2: Decorate the Globe Background

Let kids color or decorate the circle background:

  • Blue sky
  • Falling snow
  • Stars
You can also glue cotton balls at the bottom for a fluffy, snowy ground.

Step 3: Add Winter Friends

Glue one or more characters inside the globe:

  • A girl playing in the snow
  • Smiling polar bear
  • Friendly reindeer
  • Polar bear is free from cotton

Let the child place them anywhere, center stage or off to the side!

Step 4: Dress for Winter

Use the hat and scarf pieces:

  • Color them
  • Glue them onto characters
Talk about why we wear warm clothes when it is cold outside.

Step 5: Final Assembly

Glue the circle to the base.
Write your name or a winter message on the base (like Emma, Sophia, or Amanda).

Your snow globe is ready!
