Specifically, our goal with this activity is to teach children about our planet and its value. Therefore, we named this activity “Grow the Earth”. Simple Earth Day Crafts: What Is “Grow the Earth” Craft?

Through this craft, we tried to depict the Earth that holds the beautiful nature around us. It shows the Earth in the middle of a flower and how it blooms with a flower. Furthermore, it is a flower planted in a pot called recycling. So, this craft teaches children a lot about our world. Also, it gives children the opportunity to learn about the value and beauty of our world and to think about how we can protect our world.

Follow the instructions below to cut, color, and glue. Then, you will get a beautiful Grow the Earth craft. So, try it out for yourself.

What You’ll Need

Before we begin, here’s what you need to make the craft:

  • Printed templates from the FREE PDF file
  • Scissors (child-safe)
  • Glue stick or school glue
  • Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
  • Construction paper (optional for background)
  • Craft paper or cardstock (for sturdier crafts)

Simple Earth Day Crafts: How to Make the “Grow the Earth” Craft

Okay, now we’re ready to create our Grow the Earth craft. Then, follow the steps below to make your creation a success.

1. Print the Templates

Firstly, you need to print the two templates provided. To do this, download the PDF file below.

Also, use black and white A4 printer paper for printing.

2. Color the Parts

Secondly, we need to color the printed images. So, give the two sheets that you printed to the children. Then, instruct them to color each image separately. Keep the following points in mind while coloring.

  1. Use only blue and green colors for the Earth globe.
  2. Children can use any color they like to color the flower. But only color the petals. It is also best to color all the petals of the flower the same color.
  3. You can use green to color the two leaves.
  4. Use any color they like to color the flower pot.
  5. Use a color of your choice, green or brown, to color the stem.
  6. You don’t need to color the recycling symbol. Otherwise, leave it white. This is because it is clearly visible.

3. Glue onto cardstock.

Glue your colorful templates onto cardstock. Therefore, this will give your craft strength and durability.

4. Cut the Pieces

Then, gluing them to the cardboard, the children can cut them out individually. If the children have difficulty cutting out the pictures, help them cut them out.

5. Glue the globe on the flower:

Take the two shapes you cut out, the globe and the flower. Later, apply glue to the center circle of the flower. Then glue the cut-out globe on top of it.

6. Paste the recycling symbol on the flower pot:

Take pictures of the flower pot and the recycling symbol. Then apply glue to the recycling symbol. Then paste it on the flower pot as shown in the image below.

7. Glue the stem to the flower pot:

Now take the cut stem and the flower pot. Then, glue is applied to one side of the stem. Then glue it to the back of the pot so that it is in the middle. (As shown in the picture.)

8. Glue the flower and leaves to the stem:

This is the final step of this craft. Now let’s glue the flower and leaves to the stem of the vase you have prepared. Firstly, take the flower and glue it to the top of the stem.

Secondly, attach the two leaves to the sides of the stem as shown in the image below.
