What do you need for this activity?

• A tray or box
• Clean sand, flour, or salt

If you don’t have sand, you can use rice, flour, or salt instead. They all give kids a similar sensory experience.

How to set up the sand drawing activity?

1. Print the pattern cards – Download and print all 20 cards we have created for you.
2. Cut the cards – Cut them neatly and keep them ready for kids.
3. Prepare the sand tray – Pour sand into a flat tray or box. Spread it evenly.
4. Show the cards to kids – Pick one card and show it to your child.
5. Let them trace in the sand – Ask them to draw the same pattern in the sand using their finger or a stick.
