The best way to develop children’s creative thinking skills is through crafts. So, different types of crafts not only help children develop creativity, but also develop various skills. A great example of this is the craft we’re bringing to the kids today. This is a wonderful winter craft that uses the stencil art method. This helps children develop fine motor skills as well as many other skills. So let’s see how to do this activity.
What You Need
- Black square cards or construction paper
- Winter-themed stencils (sleigh, tree, bell, mitten)
- White paint
- Paper plate (for paint)
- Sponge or sponge brush
- Small white paintbrush or toothbrush (for snowflake dots)
- Tape (to hold stencils in place)
How to Make
- Prepare your workspace: Lay out black cards and place a stencil on each one. Tape the stencil lightly to keep it from shifting.
- Add paint to your plate: Pour a small amount of white paint onto a paper plate.
- Sponge around the stencil: Dip the sponge into the paint and gently dab around the edges of the stencil. This creates a glowing silhouette effect.
- Lift the stencil: Carefully remove the stencil to reveal the shape.
- Add snowflakes: Use a small brush or toothbrush to flick tiny white dots around the card for a snowy effect.
- Let it dry: Allow the cards to dry completely before displaying or giving them as gifts.
