Children will enjoy cutting, pasting, and decorating while creating something bright and cheerful.
The steps are simple, the materials are easy to find, and the finished craft can be used as a decoration or a gift. It’s a playful way for kids to explore colors, shapes, and creativity while making something that feels special and handmade.
What You’ll Need:
- Printed heart and umbrella templates
- Crayons, markers, or color pencils
- Cardboard pieces
- Scissors
- Glue
- Tape
- Yarn, ribbon, or string
How to Make It:
- Print & Color: Print the heart and umbrella templates on white paper. Let kids color them using crayons, markers, or color pencils—bright, bold, and full of love!
- Cut Out the Shapes: Carefully cut out each heart and the umbrella shape.
- Strengthen with Cardboard: Glue each paper piece onto the cardboard. Once dry, cut around the shapes again to match the outlines. This gives your craft a sturdy, handmade feel.
- Attach the Hanging Strings: Flip the umbrella over. Tape or glue yarn, ribbon, or string to the bottom edge—these will hold your hearts. Make sure they hang straight and evenly spaced.
- Add the Hearts: Paste your colored hearts along the hanging strings. You can use tape or strong glue to keep them secure.
- Hang It Up!: Punch a hole at the top of the umbrella. Thread a piece of yarn or ribbon through the hole and tie a loop. Now your craft is ready to hang on the wall!
