Looking for a fun and festive craft to keep little hands busy this holiday season? These easy Christmas cards are perfect for kids of all ages! Using free printable outlines and colorful paper layers, children can create their own cheerful holiday cards to gift or display. It’s a great way to spark creativity, build fine motor skills, and spread some seasonal joy.
What You’ll Need
- Free printable Christmas outlines (Santa, tree, snowman, etc.)
- Blank cardstock or folded paper for the card base
- Colorful scrap paper or wrapping paper
- Safety scissors
- Glue stick or double-sided tape
- Ribbon, stickers, or sequins (optional for decoration)
- Markers or crayons (for extra coloring fun)
How to Make It:
- Print the templates: Choose your favourite Christmas outline and print it on plain paper.
- Paste on the board and Cut:: Take two cardboard pieces measuring 22×16 cm and curve the fourth side. Take one piece and draw your favorite Christmas outline in the center using printed templates. Then, carefully cut out only the center Christmas image.
- Add color paper strips: Cut out colorful paper strips and paste them onto the other cardboard piece—the one that hasn’t been cut. (This is the second piece you prepared earlier, not the one with the Christmas image cut-out.) You can use any pattern and colors you desire to make your own unique design. After pasting the strip design, cut off any parts that go beyond the cardboard edges.
- Make the perfect look: Take the cardboard piece with the Christmas image cut out and paste it on top of the strip-decorated piece. Make sure it completely covers the side with the paper strips.
- Decorate: Now decorate your card as you wish. Add ribbon bows, yarn, stickers, or glitter to make it extra festive. Kids can also write or draw a small Christmas message on it.
- Share the card with loved ones: Once it’s dry, your handmade card is ready to gift to family, friends, or teachers.
