🧠 Learning Objective:
Kids will practice counting, number recognition, and fine motor skills through a fun ice cream cone matching activity.
🧰 What You Need:
- Printed templates:
• Ice cream cones with numbers (1 & 7) on separate A4 sheets
• Ice cream scoop images on separate A4 sheets - Scissors
- Glue or tape
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils (optional for decorating)
🧩 How to Do the Activity:
- Prepare the Materials
- Print out the four sheets: two cones and two scoops.
- Make sure each scoop is printed on its own A4 sheet and the cones are on individual sheets too.
- Cutting Practice
- Have kids cut out the ice cream scoops from their sheets.
- Practice careful cutting along the edges to build fine motor skills.
- Counting and Matching
- Ask the child to count the cherries on each ice cream scoop.
- Match each scoop to the cone with the corresponding number.
- Example: the scoop with 1 cherry goes on the cone with 1
- the scoop with 7 cherries goes on the cone with 7
- Glue the Pieces
- Once matched, glue or tape the scoop onto the correct cone.
- Decorate and Talk
- Let kids color or decorate their cones and scoops.
- Talk about the numbers and practice saying them out loud.
