🧠 Learning Objective:

Kids will practice counting, number recognition, and fine motor skills through a fun ice cream cone matching activity.

🧰 What You Need:

  • Printed templates:

    • Ice cream cones with numbers (1 & 7) on separate A4 sheets
    • Ice cream scoop images on separate A4 sheets
  • Scissors
  • Glue or tape
  • Crayons, markers, or colored pencils (optional for decorating)

🧩 How to Do the Activity:

  1. Prepare the Materials
    • Print out the four sheets: two cones and two scoops.
    • Make sure each scoop is printed on its own A4 sheet and the cones are on individual sheets too.
  2. Cutting Practice
    • Have kids cut out the ice cream scoops from their sheets.
    • Practice careful cutting along the edges to build fine motor skills.
  3. Counting and Matching
    • Ask the child to count the cherries on each ice cream scoop.
    • Match each scoop to the cone with the corresponding number.
      • Example: the scoop with 1 cherry goes on the cone with 1
      • the scoop with 7 cherries goes on the cone with 7
  4. Glue the Pieces
    • Once matched, glue or tape the scoop onto the correct cone.
  5. Decorate and Talk
    • Let kids color or decorate their cones and scoops.
    • Talk about the numbers and practice saying them out loud.
